Five Hailsham karate students from CMA Karate recently attended the second four-hour selection session for the WIKF England team.
The selection process for the England team was overseen by World Chief Instructor Sensei Jon Wicks Eighth Dan.
After the selections all of the CMA Karate students were told that they would be representing England at the WIKF European championships in Denmark in September this year.
This is the most students that CMA Karate have successfully produced for the England team with one more of the club’s students still to attend selections in May, meaning their numbers could rise.
The successful athletes pictured are Max Colbran 14, Bailey Coomber 14, Mathew Elliott 14, Callum Beer 12 and Keeley Taylor 10. All from the local Hailsham area.
CMAKarate is also supporting the Hailsham and District Sports Alliance in its quest for better sporting opportunities for team sports, recreational sports, leisure and fitness facilities.
There is such a demand for local affordable facilities which would bring vital health benefits to Hailsham and boost the economy of the town.
The new sports/recreational park would provide opportunities for every member of the Hailsham community to enjoy their leisure time.
