Golf News: Bay View sees new faces on winners’ podium

THE latest members’ day at Bay View Golf Club brought a new face to the winners’ podium.

The Ede Challenge Cup was won by Alan Burrows with 41 points with James Lee second with 40 points. On August 8 the ladies played for the Grandmas Trophy. It was won by Claudine Lower with 38 points and runner up was Tricia Wilcox with 37 points. The Midweek Stableford, played on August 16, was won by Tom Hilton with 40 points. Second was Adrian Cosham with 40 points and third was Dick Boland with 39 points.

The Summer Eclectic, played on August 14, was won by Geoff Watkins with 29 points. Second was Jonathan Wood, with 28 points, and third was Jez Graves with 28 points.

The Lewes Seniors played round seven of the Page Trophy on July 31. Dave Manktellow came in first with 43 points; second was LOGS Captain Norman Mayhew with 39 points and third was Terry Stanley with 39 points.

Congratulations to Junior Captain Tom Richardson who won the Mid Sussex Junior Open on August 8 with a one under par 70, net 64.

On August 13, James Dean, one of Club Professional Tony Hilton’s assistants, passed his PGA playing assessment test at Wildwood GC. Good luck to James as he starts his PGA training in September.
