Hailsham clawed their way back from 3-1 down at half-time to be eventual 4-3 winners away at St Francis.
Despite starting well, the visitors conceded an early goal. Alex Smith soon after provided an equalizer for Hailsham, dribbling the ball past opposition midfield and defence before shooting on target.
Despite the home team conceding several penalty corners, it was Hailsham who conceded the next goals, going into the second half of the game 3-1 down.
With 1s debutant Toby Baker causing trouble in the St Francis defence, Hailsham again found themselves with yet more penalty corners, scoring two goals from two, the first a deflected goal from Jim Cyster and the second a solid strike from captain George Cyster.
Uplifted by the goals, the team pressed on and were rewarded with the game-winning goal with five minutes left of the game, Tristan Pengilley smashing the ball into the D where it was deflected into the goal by Jim Cyster.
