Hellingly Rugby Club is taking part in the NatWest RugbyForce weekend and is calling on the support of volunteers from the local community to get involved in a weekend of DIY on June 15 and 16.
NatWest RugbyForce is a nationwide programme developed in partnership the the RFU, which helps community rugby clubs to improve their facilities wiyj the long term goal of becoming stronger businesses.
The Weekend is an opportunity for all club members and the local community to come together to have some DIY fun and work on an improvement project which will make a real difference.
There will be a range of jobs available so that everyone can get involved and the club will also be providing teas and coffees, refreshments and a Sunday barbecue.
England Head Coach and NatWest RugbyForce ambassador Stuart Lancaster, said “Rugby clubs are at the heart of their local communities and we know they need support to sustain themselves, not only for the next couple of seasons but for the years to come.
“Many England players started their careers at these clubs and NatWest RugbyForce will help clubs to help themselves by giving a long term vision and enabling them to think like a business to attract and retain members.
Club Chairman, Roger Simmons says: “This is a real opportunity for all our players, junior and senior, along with members of the local community, skilled or unskilled, to come together and refurbish the clubhouse to help improve the ambience and the environment.
“We are asking members of the local community, whether they can spare a couple of hours, a day or, hopefully two days, to come along to Hellingly Rugby Club on Saturday the 15th or Sunday the 16th of June to lend a hand to renovate our club.
