It wasn’t pretty and was only just effective, but Lewes secured all five points against a determined Old Dunstonians side shorn of many first team players due to injuries and departures.
The 36-22 win moves Lewes up to third place in the league table.
Their tries came from George Dean, Drew Neist (2), Simon March and Josh Reid, who, along with his accurate kicking, racked up 16 of his side’s 36 points.
See this Friday’s Sussex Express for a full report on that game.
The Lewes 2nd XV had an excellent win at local rivals Brighton 2nd XV in their Sussex Spitfire Division One clash.
For much of the match the side played with 13 men but tries from winger Tom Petty, Shay Neist and Steve Mills, two of which were converted (one by Neist the other from young Tom Pitts) saw them run out 19-12 winners. Again, see the Sussex Express on Friday for more on that game, plus news on the 3rd XV’s late, rearranged friendly at Shoreham.
