Johanna Konta is through to the semi-final of the AEGON International, her home town tournament.
Konta, 25, powered through in two close sets 7-6, 6-4 against former Eastbourne champion Ekaterina Makarova of Russia in one-hour 32 minutes.
The British No.1, who has risen to No.18 in the world rankings, will face Czech player Karolina Pliskova on centre court later today.
Konta said, “I just want to say thanks to the crowd. They were awesome out there today and made so much noise. The semi-final is going to be tough but I’m gratefully to get the chance to play once again in front of this crowd.”
Heather Watson was the last British player to reach a semi-final in Eastbourne in 2014 when she was beaten by Madison Keys.
Dominika Cibulkova, who beat No.1 seed Agnieska Radwanska 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 in their quarter final earlier in the day, is in action against Monica Puig in the other semi-final.
