Lewes’ game in the Ryman Premier and a host of games in the county league have been postponed due to the wet weather that has hit the south east.
The Rooks’ game at Cray Wanderers was called off following a pitch inspection in Kent earlier today.
And most of the games in the Sussex County Football League have also fallen foul of the wet weather – which comes in the same week as snow caused casualties in the football programme.
The list of games featuring local teams in county league division 1 that have been postponed are: AFC Uckfield v Chichester City, Arundel v Peacehaven, Hailsham Town v Shoreham and Ringmer v Redhill. Indeed, all other games in division 1 – with the exception of Selsey v St Francis Rangers – have been called off.
In division 2, Bexhill United v Newhaven is also off, though Saltdean United’s game at home to Oakwood is ON.
The Tigers tweeted: “After inspection our game is ON against Oakwood. #NomoreRain”
And Seaford Town’s game away at Westfield is still on but hanging in the balance.
Just minutes ago, Westfield FC tweeted: “3rds and reserves are OFF! 1st team at home is still on (3pm KO) but its now down to the ref #WFC”
In division 3, Uckfield Town’s game at home to Hurstpierpoint has also been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
One other game that IS going ahead is at Fort Road, where Newhaven are taking on Rye United in the second round of the Reserve Section Challenge Cup. The Dockers tweeted: “So it’s all down to Fort Road for some Reserve Cup action. Newhaven vs @RyeUnited. 3pm kick off. Free entry. #dockers”
