Lewes’ run of defeats stretches to six in a row with Canvey loss

Lewes’ run of defeats ran to six straight on Saturday with a 2-1 home reversal to Canvey Island.

The Rooks were actually ahead for a short period before the team riding high in the Ryman Premier came from behind to win.

Lewes took the lead on 10 minutes through Alex Malins before a conceded penalty saw Rob King level eight minutes later.

And the visitors won it in the 79th minute when Kevin Dobinson scored from an easy tap-in.

The afternoon got worse when Steve Brinkhurst was sent off following two quick yellow cards.

The Rooks are at home again tomorrow (Tuesday) night when their rearranged fixture against Margate takes place. Kick off 7.45pm.
