Lewes AC seniors enjoyed tremendous success competing in the Sussex Cross Country League at Plumpton College.

Despite a notoriously muddy and wet course made even more challenging by the current weather, the team won the second division race by a staggering 100 points and remain well on course for their aim of promotion to the first division.

The star Lewes runners were: Josh Burgess (seventh), David Bradford (tenth), Robbie James (14th and first over 40 runner), Mike Ellicock (20th), Alan Velecky (29th), Matt Bradford (34th), Ben Savill (37), and Chris Gilbert (50th).

Not to be out done by the seniors, there were also some great runs by the club’s junior runners. Ben Martin came second in the under 13 boys race and as result has been selected to run for Sussex in the inter Counties race in Essex in December.

Jasper Baker who came ninth in the same race has been selected as first reserve. Also gaining a Sussex vest was Aiden Briffett who also came second in the under 15 boys race. Selected as reserves for the under 15 age group were Sam Roger (sixth), James Martin (13th) and Connor Sullivan (14th). Great performances all round.
