Seaford Striders are pleased to announce that despite the entrants limit being raised to 500 this year, the ever-popular “Mince Pie” run is a sell-out.
The race, on Sunday December 8 at 11am, starts and finishes at Peacehaven Leisure Centre and the route heads off road taking in the area around Telscombe and Saltdean.
Voted one of the UK’s top ten races in Runners World magazine, this multi-terrain event is contested over a challenging 10-mile course and sees many entrants returning year after year for a bracing pre-Christmas work-out.
Top quality race photographers Sussex Sport Photography will be on hand to capture runners aiming not only for a fast time but also those wanting a fun run with the emphasis on end of season enjoyment where fancy dress is welcome.
Enthusiastic marshals are guaranteed and there are plentiful water stations along the route. A medal, goody bag and, of course, a mince pie await all finishers – as well as spot prizes and a raffle.
A pre- and post-race massage is available and there’s an opportunity to buy sports clothing, footwear and equipment from local specialists InterSport who’ll be in attendance.
The race is sponsored once again by long standing supporter David Jordan Estate Agents.
This year the supported charity is Look Sussex who since 1992 has supported visually impaired children who are mostly in mainstream schools and their families by providing opportunities for the whole family to get together at social fun events.
These help the children make friends with other visually impaired children and the parents and other siblings gain support whilst having fun. Look Sussex works closely with the Blatchington Court Trust and rely on fundraising to organise events such as farm visits, camping trips, swimming and Christmas celebrations and currently support 165 families.
