Lewes’s second defeat in successive weeks sees them periously close to the bottom of the League table.

Playing at home, but in red shirts due to a clash of colours with visitors Hastings and Bexhill, the match mirrored last week’s game: Hastings dominating the early sessions but Lewes making a come-back in the middle session, only to fall again in the final quarter, the score at the final whistle being 12 - 20.

Lewes’s 2 tries came from Tom Petty and new signing from Medway, centre Ben Barter, with one conversion.

On Saturday, Lewes visit Pulborough for another tough away encounter, k.o. 3.00pm.

Lewes 2nd’s are making a good effort in the Sussex Intermediate League - although eventually succumbing 22 - 34 away to Shoreham 1st’s, a hat-trick of tries by Christian Vanuzzi helped contribute to a valuable losing bonus point.
