A second half Ben Godfrey goal was not enough to prevent Lewes from going down to their fifth straight defeat on Saturday.
An understrength Rooks put in a good showing in the second period but were made to pay for two goals conceded in the first half as they went down 2-1 defeat at Enfield Town.
Lewes were hit by the late withdrawal of Jack Walder with a hamstring strain and found themselves 2-0 down by half time thanks to goals from Scott McGleish and Bryan Hammett.
Simon Wormull’s introduction of himself after the break gave the Rooks some impetus – and the visitors had hopes of a comeback when Godfrey pulled a goal back on 77 minutes.
But despite a couple of late attempts, they could force an equaliser.
