Eastbourne riders and management are in confident mood ahead of the season-opening Elite League match at the Arlington Stadium tomorrow (Saturday).
The riders have been on track for most of this week and are keyed up for the match against Belle Vue, which begins at 7.30pm.
Co-promoter and team manager Trevor Geer said: “The pre-season practice sessions have gone very well and everyone is confident that we will have another good season.
“We know we must get off to a winning start on Saturday to give us the perfect springboard for us to reach the end-of-season play-offs. I’m sure we can do that again and then we will have a realistic chance of lifting the title.”
The team will line up: 1 Joonas Kylmakorpi, 2 Lukas Dryml, 3 Simon Gustafsson, 4 Cameron Woodward, 5 Lewis Bridger, 6 Denis Gizatullin, 7 Timo Lahti.
Geer commented: “The boys have been out making starts in their riding pairs and everything is ready for the season to start. We are in buoyant mood.”
The Eastbourne Lifestyle Eagles have ramped up their publicity for the start of the season with eye-catching posters out in the Brighton area, appearances on radio stations and plenty of coverage in the local press.
Co-promoter Mike Bellerby said: “Everything is in place and we are all ready to go. I’m convinced we are in for another exciting season.
“We have a team of exciting riders and I know Denis Gizatullin is keen to make his mark on British speedway. It took us a long time to get him to Arlington but now he is already to make up for lost time.”
The Kids a Quid promotion with the Argus newspaper will operate at all home meetings this year. Children under 12 will be admitted for £1 when accompanied by an adult with a voucher from that day’s Argus newspaper, which will be on sale outside the turnstiles.
Fans from away teams can also use the promotion.
