LEWES Wanderers Cycling Club’s riders were suitably inspired by Bradley Wiggins’s heroics to pull out some record breaking rides in a crammed weekend of racing.

The fun started at Broadbridge Heath on Saturday with the Crawley Wheelers 10 event. With more than a hint of summer weather, the Lewes squad picked up the team prize courtesy of Rob Pelham (20:53), Pete Morris (20:52) and Duncan Fuller (22:04).

Junior rider Dan Gardener set a scorching PB covering the course in a rapid time of 23:04. Dan is certainly a young rider with immense potential and one to keep an eye out for over the coming seasons.

Natasha Fuller, Lewes’ answer to the Manx missile, again lowered the club Ladies’ 10 record, finishing just three seconds over the 24-minute mark. Natasha is determined to break the 24-minute barrier, and, with the promised sunny weather, it looks a racing certainty that she will be able to crack this personal milestone before the season is over.
