Difficult end for Midhurst driver's Indy season

Brands Hatch's Indy Circuit in Kent hosted the final rounds of the Michelin Ginetta G50 Championship.

Midhurst driver Dan Denis competed in his Matt Blyth Motorsport G50 and for race one he qualified 12th in a time of 49.2sec with an average speed of 87mph.

Denis got a good start in the 19-lap race picking off the opposition one by one and with some good overtaking eventually crossed the line in eighth.

He lined up eighth on the grid for race two, his finishing position from race one. Again he got a good start with 28 laps ahead of him to make an impression on the cars in front.

He fought hard during the race but could only manage to cross the line from where he had started - eighth.

Race three saw him start from eighth again, but disaster brought the youngster’s weekend to an end as on lap two, exiting Paddock Hill bend, he encountered a technical problem with the car and had to retire and a very disappointed Denis pulled the car up on the grass just before Druids.

Denis finished his first season in the Ginetta G50 Championship 14th in the championship table on 191 points.

He is looking forward to the 2011 season and hoping to improve on his final standings of this year.
