Mullen back in the medals for Haywards Heath Harriers

Tom Mullen clinched an impressive second place in the Crowborough 10k on Sunday.

Mullen finished in 36:36, a fantastic time on a tough undulating course, including the hills of the infamous Palesgate Lane.

In a field of a little over 300 runners, the Harriers also picked up the Senior Men’s team title (Mullen, Rob Watts 38:32, Jack Chivers 39:20, Andy Guy 40:27) and age group placings for Marion Hemsworth (2nd 54:35) and Peter Cobbett (3rd 58:22).

Coming into this last fixture in this year’s Sussex Grand Prix, the Haywards Heath Harriers were hopeful of reclaiming their titles, so spectacularly won across the board in 2014.

The club must wait to find out the final league positions but the performances this week will do nothing but help the their cause.

Matt Quinton 46:03, Richard Cole 47:20, Carl Bicknell 51:49, Amanda Soper 53:21, Chris Glanfield 56:13, Michelle Holdstock 1.01:25, Jenny Denyer 1.16:15.

On Saturday at the Clair parkrun, it was the turn of Russ Mullen (17:37) to take victory in a race that saw Harriers take the first seven places. Junior Isobel Russell was a brilliant second lady with a new PB of 22:28 for this hilly circuit.

At the Junior 2k parkrun on Sunday in Victoria Park, Harrier Adam Dray (7:33 PB) was third in a closely fought battle. Lily Bliss-Tomlinson was first girl with a new PB of 8:28.

Darja Knotkova Hanley (U15) and Izzy Coomber (Senior Women) have been selected to represent Sussex at the Inter Counties Cross Country on Bedford in December.
