MUSSELS' BAD START CONTINUES

SOME TIME this season, Shoreham's luck will change. During Friday night's defeat at the hands of Horsham YMCA at Middle Road, the Mussels showed enough spirit and determination to convince me that things can turn round from a run of five straight losses.

One thing they will need to improve, however, is their strike force. Darren Annis, while widely recognised as an excellent close-range man and poacher, doesn't appear to work hard enough. And his partner on Friday, Matt Kelly '“ barring one early effort where he beat the offside trap but shot wide '“ didn't look up to Division One standard.

Mussels included for the first time this season Martin O'Donnell and his presence served to stiffen up a defensive division which had previously looked shaky.

Shoreham bossed the first half, and Rick Lenton was unlucky to see a speculative lob fumbled behind by YM keeper Scott Kenward, while Garry Snow, Scott McKenzie, Lockhart and Annis were either just off-target or denied by Kenward.
