Myall set to return for United

STUART Myall has been pencilled in for a return to first team action as Hastings United look to end a four-game run without a win at Bashley.

The popular midfielder has been sidelined for the last 11 months after damaging cruciate knee ligaments. Manager Steve Lovell said: "I want to involve him on Saturday (September 6). I need someone of his stature to give us a bit of guidance in midfield." Hastings also welcome back Graham Webb after he missed the last two matches while on holiday.

The season may only be three weeks old but the odd rumbling of discontent is already beginning to surface amongst supporters - not that Lovell is too bothered. "If they do they do," he said. "I'm trying to work out what is best for the football club - it might take a week, it might take three weeks. I'm doing it for the long term future of the football club."

Lovell hasn't been helped by a spate of injuries which has forced him to ditch his favoured 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formations. "We have just got to keep working at it. We've been a little unfortunate in the last few weeks but I haven't been able to play the system I want but hopefully I can get back to some normality on Saturday."

Peter Taylor (ankle ligaments) and Joe Cornwall (broken collar bone) are two to three weeks away from returning."
