They had a rocky start but found their strength. Great holding space from the shooters enabled Natalie Douthwaite to launch the ball from over halfway time and time again, earning her the player of the match title.

Chichester’s second team had a cup match against Royal Holloway. They had help from the third-team players Elizabeth Treble and Charlotte Horner plus first-team player Izi Tunnicliffe.

In the first two quarters they were steady. The third saw Treble and Tunnicliffe come on and played very well.

Camilla Jordan showed some lovely defending while Kate Green was getting a lot of the rebounds. Fantastic shooing by Katie Saunders and Megan Kennell popped shots in over Royal Holloways 6ft 4in keeper.

By the end of the third quarter they were down by nine, but Chi came out firing for the fourth quarter.

Ellie Bullock made some great interceptions at centre and kept the ball steady. The final score was 36-34 to Royal Holloway but Chi can hold their heads high.

The fifth team had a cup game against Queen Mary University at the Copper Box Arena.

Halfway through the match, Chi started to fall behind and decided to enjoy the moment rather than being too hard on themselves.

Even though they lost 43-19, they all left the court with a smile. Player of the match was Abi Scott for her impressive interceptions at wing defence and hard work.
