Netball team represented Sussex at South East tournament

The Burgess Hill School for Girls U14 Netball team has been in dynamic form over recent months, in preparation for the National Schools' Tournament.

In the first round, held at Roedean School, the girls played well in the round robin stages going through to the semi- finals comfortably, only conceding 9 goals.

In the semi finals they came up against a strong Angmering side. The level of netball was outstanding with the girls intercepting with speed and commitment, whilst both shooters shot with accuracy and coped well under pressure.

The team consisting of, Hannah Booth, Holly Johnson, Eleanor Armstrong, Rosie Scott (Captain), Eleanor Armitage, Bethan Williams, Nicola Horrell, Amy Huyton- Taylor and Claudia James trained hard for the next round; they had many matches in preparation for the tournament.

The girls fought hard throughout the day and played some excellent netball. They beat Cowes School 11'“1, The Cottesloe School 14-4, Headington 9-4, drew 3-3 with St Gabriels and lost to Beaconsfield High 8-5, and Thorndean 8-9 to finish third in the group stage.

The girls gained some valuable experience and look forward to the challenge next year.
