In just over two months’ time, an anticipated record field of 1,500 runners will tackle the 2015 Worthing 10k on Sunday, June 7.

Starting and finishing on the promenade opposite Western Place, the new one-lap course is flat and potentially fast for personal-best hunters.

Race director Gavin Stephens said: “The 2015 Worthing 10k has a new look and feel – and the organising team are pulling out all the stops to bring a flagship running event to the town.

“We have a new dedicated website, new course, and fantastic finisher’s medal. The race has traditionally been a favourite of club runners, but this year, 70 per cent of entries have currently come from non-club runners, which is fantastic to see.”

The 2015 event also incorporates the Sussex 10k Championships and expectations are growing that records could tumble, with the town hosting many of the county’s elite runners. Elite runners from much further afield have also been attracted by the offer of a £1,000 cash bonus for the first male who runs under 30 minutes or the first female who runs under 34 minutes.

The organisers are supporting two local charity partners in 2015, Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House.
