Apart from a brief shower midday Sunday, all the finals were played in excellent conditions. Well supported by members and friends, the crowds were entertained by some high quality tennis.

The men’s singles champion will have a new name on the honours board. Having been runner-up last year, Joe Adams went one better this time by beating Dan Cole 6-2, 6-4. In the men’s plate, Richard Yule triumphed 6-1, 6-1 against Bruce Allum.

The men’s doubles produced a match of high quality as it brought together four of the club’s first team players. Although not reflected in the scoreline, Sean Yates and Doug Keen won a thoroughly entertaining match against Adams and Cole 6-1, 6-2.

The ladies’ singles also produced a straight sets win for last year’s winner as Amanda Ruck triumphed again, this time beating Sheila King 6-2, 6-1. Ruck also clinched the ladies’ doubles, teaming up with Judith Cooper to see off Beaula Page and Olivia Stapley 6-3, 6-1.

The mixed doubles was won by Yates and King, who overcame a first set loss to take the next two for a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Chris Grief and Ruck.

Jake Boomhauer defeated James Softley 6-1, 7-9, 6-1 in the handicap singles despite conceding a point per game.
