Sussex Police opened the scoring with their skilled and well-drilled pack providing a strong platform.

Despite the Police’s strength, Newick were able to secure their own line-out ball throughout the game to defend and provide a platform for the home side to attack.

Whilst the Police made the stronger start, Newick broke their line and, with pace in the backs, scored in the corner. Tom Poynder, playing at inside centre, added to the home side’s tally with a strong run through the middle and determined hand-off to the final man to go straight over the line.

Whilst the visitors had used their dominance and built an unassailable lead to secure the game, Newick had the final word with George Russell receiving the ball on the blindside and breaking two tackles to score in the last minute of the game.
