Nifty netballers end first half of season in style

THE UNIVERSITY of Chichester’s netball teams had a great end to the first half of the season with four wins from four.

The firsts were away to Hertfordshire and after a slow start the team went on to win 58-42.

The win was attributed to great teamwork, high levels of energy by every member of the team and the drive to win. Player of the match was Amy Watson.

The seconds were at home to Brunel. The defence were exceptional, gaining interceptions all over the court.

Going into the last quarter the team were four down so knew they had to fight for their win. Chichester came back and won 33-31.

Kate Green was player of the match for creating amazing turnovers and helping bring the ball down the court.

The thirds faced Portsmouth and following their loss to Portsmouth seconds, they needed a victory to stand a chance of winning the league.

An extraordinary first quarter saw Chichester leading 16-4 but after Portsmouth made changes, the challenge was heightened with Portsmouth winning the third quarter. But Chichester took the honours with a 39-19 win.

Players of the match were Alescia Ferrari, who had an amazing game at goal attack, and Lily Cartwright for excellent defence in the circle.

The fourths were away to Brighton and going into the last quarter Chichester were four down but they pulled it back to win by two, the final score 34-32.

The girls all gave 100 per cent but pPlayer of the match was Bella Dale for great positioning in the circle and reading the game well.

The fifths did not play but reach Christmas at the top of their table.
