Arundel museum wants memories of the 40s and 50s

MEMORIES of Arundel from the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, through to the Queen’s Coronation in 1953, are needed by the town’s museum.

Anyone who lived, worked or went to school in Arundel during that time is asked to share their recollections with Arundel Museum Society to extend its oral history archive.

The society is working with Littlehampton Museum to make the recordings and volunteers have already captured a range of individual memories of the town and its people during momentous years of the 20th century.

Interviews are carried out by one of the ground-breaking project’s trained volunteers at a time and place to suit the subject.

The interview process normally takes about an hour from start to finish.
