Littlehampton Museum needs your help for special WWI centenary exhibition

This September Littlehampton Museum will be putting on a special exhibition to mark the centenary of the beginning of the First World War.

The museum will be taking a look at how the town coped with the war and how the fighting in Europe affected the lives of those left behind.

They will also be telling the tales of some of those Littlehampton men who went away to fight for their country.

As part of this exhibition, the museum would like to hear from anybody who has any artefacts or stories from the First World War that they would like to share with them.

This could be a soldier’s letter home from the Front, or a photograph or story from a great grandparent who lived here during the conflict.

Any items loaned will be safely locked in display cases for the duration of the display, photographs or letters can be scanned and returned upon request.

Cllr Malcolm Belchamber, chairman of Littlehampton Town Council’s community resources committee, said: “This is going to be a fascinating exhibition. I hope this request will uncover some unknown local stories to really add a personal touch to our display.”
