The club have been running activities – not just table tennis – for youngsters and people in need in the community – and are disappointed at the new shutdown.

In a message to members they said: “Just when we were getting back into our game and sessions again, even if a little limited, we find we have to be restricted again when we have to close the club until December 2. We are so sorry about this.

“There is still not clear national guidance yet on our work with schools and the university and on outdoor play, although the weather will obviously have an impact even if we can go ahead.

“We recognise that this is a difficult time for everyone. If you feel able to continue to pay by direct debit over this four week period then we would be very grateful, but perfectly understand if you cannot.

“Above all we want to say thank you to everyone who has helped get the club back up and running so that we are in a good position when we hope to return in early December.

“We try to be a responsive and positive club and still hope to help our community through this period and beyond. So watch this space.”

The club’s food hub is seen as an essential service so will continue.”

Meanwhile, after the success of summer holiday sessions, Moulsecoomb Primary School hosted another activity programme during half term for children across the city with special educational needs, organised by BTTC.

Nam Yang Martial Arts, the Moulsecoomb Forest Garden, Amazonas Arts and VYD Football all helped run sessions.

Children and young people aged seven to 18 took part in 45-minute fun and fitness sessions, learning new skills and sharing time together with new friends.

Days were full of table tennis, martial arts, football skills, outdoor forest creativity sessions and the dance, music and acrobatics.

Youngsters who attended declared it “magic” and feedback from families was really positive.

One parent said: “Thank you for organising this. Amazing that there were so many activities and lunch and it was free.”
