Eastbourne bowlers set to honour Capt Sir Tom Moore

An event to honour Captain Sir Tom Moore and raise money for Dementia UK will be held at Gildredge Park Bowling Club on Saturday, May 1, starting at 1pm.

Members will be challenged to bowl 100 bowls playing pairs, mixed pairs and singles, four bowls each for 25 ends.

Money raised will be donated to Dementia UK in support of Roy Payton, an 84-year-old member at Gildredge Park who raised in excess of £1,000 when he walked 1,000 miles between March 21 last year and this year in the same pair of M&S shoes.

Available to purchase on the day will be Roy’s recently published book “Poetry in Motion” – a collection of some of his poems written with pathos and humour demonstrating that life is a journey and not a destination. All proceeds to Dementia UK. Donations can be made here
