Junior activities are high on the priority list, so a ‘little league’ baseball programme has started on Sundays at Oaklands Park, where boys and girls aged eight to 12 can get back to hitting, catching and throwing before play switches to an indoor format for the winter.

The team are always looking for new members so the programme welcomes beginners and experienced players alike.

“As the format of baseball is so similar to rounders - albeit with a few equipment upgrades – new players can quickly adapt and get up to speed fairly quickly,” says team manager David Morris.

“The Return to Play Plan allows up to 30 individuals at the field, with no rule changes.

“Of course there is distancing and equipment hygiene to manage, but following the plan means we can give youngsters the opportunity to play baseball with their friends again after such a long break.”
