Under looming skies that promised but never delivered rain, it was a closely contested but friendly match, with both Hailsham pairs prevailing against East Hoathly’s second string. But the opposition’s first string won both their matches. The closest match came between the two first string pairs.
Heather Keating and Jill Greenall for Hailsham went into an early lead in both sets, only to be pegged back by Gill Luis-Ravelo and Sarah Keegan, eventually losing 4-6, 5-7.
Hailsham captain Heather Keating said: “It was good to be back playing matches.”
Now the team are looking forward to more.
