Put on by Nice Work as a first test event to be held under the new Covid-safe guidelines, runners had to pre-book start times (based on anticipated finish time).

These were available in five-minute slots with a maximum of 12 people able to race in the same slot. Under UKA guidelines, water was not allowed on the course, which made a brutally hot evening even more tough.

HY Runners put in an excellent effort, securing five out of the top ten spots and also claiming first male and female categories.

Ross Skelton was first over the line with a rapid time of 24:33, meaning each of his miles was run at a sub five-minute pace. He said he was trying to break 24 minutes, but the heat got the better of him - still, he was happy with his time.

The female winner was Shannon Hopkins-Parry, who also found it tough in the heat. Her time of 34.17 was several minutes slower than anticipated, but an ongoing hip injury meant she needed to take it steady to finish the race.

Other HY Runners and their times: David Ervine (6th) 29.13, Carl Adams (8th) 30:18, Dan Isted (9th) 30.59, Shane Ryan (10th) 31.15, Benji Symes (17th) 33.07, Craig Willard (30th) 36.47, Sarah Francis (31st) 37.19, Jason Johnson (56th) 43:23, Susan Mould (61st) 44.31, Fallon Lewis (68th) 47.23
