International Women's Day brings Eastbourne runners out in force

Women from Eastbourne running club Female Run Wednesdays were out in force on Monday March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day and to encourage other women from the local area to run as part of a healthy lifestyle.

The club, who operate as part of the wider Run Wednesday’s club, was started to provide women of all abilities with a safe and supportive space to run together.

Over the years runners have taken part in a number of local and national events, including Eastbourne Park Run, Race for Life, Eastbourne Half Marathon and Beachy Head Marathon.

Whilst the club are currently operating under the national lockdown restrictions, the aim of the day was to get out with one other from the club and run within the Eastbourne area.

Female Run Wednesday’s captain, Hannah Holland, shared, “On this International Women’s Day, our club wishes to celebrate our ladies who make up Female Run Wednesdays.

“Our female runner all show courage and commitment to their fitness goals, regardless of age or ability, as well as unrivalled support and friendship for one another.

“As female captain, it is a privilege to be amongst such an amazing community of women.
