Mannings Heath golfers squeeze in last game before lockdown

Mannings Heath’s golfing ladies played their first 14-hole winter fun competition, just as the latest lockdown meant it would also be the last for a while.

The theme was Double Sevens with players doubling their Stableford points on their best seven holes and adding those to the remaining seven.

So with par effectively 42 Jakki Tidey could be delighted with her 48-point total.

Playing off 28 on a rain-softened course she was five points clear of Lyn Turner and 11 better than third-placed Rosemary Martin.

The ladies, like the rest of Heath’s members and golfers throughout England, have now put their clubs away while hoping to being back in action early in December.

Horsham Golf

Members have been asked to keep an eye on Horsham Golf’s social media channels for updates about a hoped-for reopening in December.

A message to members said: “Due to the government’s guidelines Horsham Golf will be closed from 5 November to 2December.

“This includes the Oaks and Firs courses, The Driving Range, The Gym and the The Cafe Upstairs.

“Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for regular updates.”

The Horsham Golf shop will be running a click and collect service for any telephone or email orders, with a small dedicated team in place for advice and assistance.
