All eight players involved from both clubs produced tremendous tennis in sunny but blustery conditions.

The match was tied at three rubbers each but Cross in Hand claimed the two points for victory thanks to winning one more set.

After the singles the match was poised at 2-2.

Gabriela Pachecho-Lagoda, Meads No1, was in imperious form with her powerful serve and well executed ground strokes proving too hot for the Cross in Hand No1.

Hazel Sneath came through a third-set tie-break with her volleying as crisp and clinical as ever while Lucy Parkin and Jess Gisby both played some lovely tennis but lost.

In the doubles Pachecho-Lagoda partnered Sneath and swept to a convincing victory while Gisby and Parkin battled hard but were defeated in straight sets leaving the score all square. Calculations meant Cross in Hand claimed the points on sets won.
