Under blue skies with chilly winds, 24 players took to the green for a triples knockout competition, with prize money to be won.

Of the eight triples that started, the teams that made it through to the last four, after eight ends, were skipped by Malcolm Gray, Ivan Salmon, Steve Adsett and Martyn Ralph. The pace was fast but chilly, with the wind cutting.

Malcolm Gray’s team of Jim Davis and Elaine Lewis, played Ivan Salmon, Hugh Hubbard and John Walsh, winning 10-5 to pave their way to the final, while Steve Adsett’s team of Peter Newman and Jane Gray played Martyn Ralph, his dad Micky Ralph and Elaine Lowin, with the result not reflecting the quality of play. Steve and team won 10-5.

The final eight ends were played on the shadiest rink.

Play was close but the early shots went to Malcolm and team, leading 4-0 after three ends. Steve, Peter and Jane pulled back, only to take it to the eighth end, where a caliper measure gave the win to skip Malcolm, No2 Jim Davis and lead Elaine Lewis, who deserved the win and collected prize money of £6 each.

Captain John Brown did the presentations while socially distanced on the green, followed by well-earned drinks in the fresh air.
