For the inaugural Beachy Head Half Marathon event, 17 runners from the club participated in a race that covered 13.1 miles over Butts Brow, Crows Link, Birling Gap and Beachy Head.

Special mention goes to the first Run Wednesdays male runner home, Phil Wood, in 1hr 48min, and first club female to finish, Louise Ryan, in 1.57.

The event was made even more special as Run Wednesdays were the key local club supporting the council events team to marshal the route.

More than 30 runners in club colours allocated at key points. Will Dando, who ran the course, was delighted with the event. “The course was beautiful as well as challenging,” he said.

“It was made even more enjoyable by the irrepressible Run Wednesdays’ marshals and supporters popping up in even the most random places.”

A week later 13 runners from the club completed the full Beachy Head Marathon.

Magdalena Schoerner and Luke Tomsett were first club runners back in a time of 4.14.

Special mention goes to Emma Trenners who completed her first official marathon – rather than a lockdown virtual event over the same distance.
