The feature race of the day is the £15,000 TRM Kurasyn Handicap Hurdle at 3.29pm which is staged over two and a half-miles and sees 12 runners go to post.

Hijack was a dual winner last season at Ludlow and was beaten a subsequent Graded scorer at Market Rasen in February. A rating of 128 looks fair and he is open to improvement.

Sullington handler Richard Rowe saddles one of his stable stars, Up The Straight. He was third in the Listed Sidney Banks at Huntingdon in February behind subsequent Supreme Novices’ Hurdle hero Shishkin, before easily landing the spoils in a novice event at Kempton. He goes well fresh and could be an interesting horse to follow this season.

The Emma Lavelle-trained Hang In There is talented and was successful in Grade Two company at Cheltenham in November 2019. He has not been seen since falling in the Sidney Banks, but could be an exciting prospect this season.

Fleur Irlandaise boasts some smart form in Listed company, but was well-beaten on his latrest start over hurdles at Ascot in February. Group Stages was a good second in a Listed event at Musselburgh in February and looked out of his depth in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham. He takes a drop in grade here and has to be of interest.

Didtheyleaveuoutto was a former smart bumper performer and nothing went right for the seven-year-old who is trained in Findon by Nick Gifford. He remains open to plenty of improvement and is one of two runners for owner JP McManus along with Collooney who was second at Wincanton on his latest start.

Harefield was well-beaten at Fontwell in August and will need to improve to make his presence felt here, whilst Distingo, a distant 14th at Ascot on his latest start represents local trainer Gary Moore.

The £11.947 Bigmore Will Writing And Estate Planning Handicap Chase (4.04pm) is staged over an extended two miles and one furlongs and looks competitive with seven runners. Flaminger represents Gary Moore and boasts winning form over course and distance at Fontwell. He shaped better than the bare result suggests at Newbury last time out and is open to more improvement this year.

Ga Law made a stylish winning debut over fences over a longer trip at Fontwell last month and an opening mark of 128 looks fair, whilst Little Light, successful at Southwell in testing ground at Southwell in March, is another to note.

Elsewhere, the £5,800 Bigmore Associates Novices’ Hurdle (4.39pm) is an intriguing event over two and a half-miles. Fifty Ball runs for Gary Moore in the same colours as stable star Goshen. He shaped with promise on his first start for the yard at Fonwell last month having been purchased for £60,000 from France. However, he takes on Fergal O’Brien’s progressive bumper winner Beyond The Pale in what looks a race to focus on.
