University sport: Chichester put trophy tears behind them to beat Brighton

The University of Chichester’s women’s football ones bounced back from their quarter-final Trophy exit with a 3-2 win in the league against Brighton thanks to goals from May Hamblin (2) and Lisbeth Mottashed.

Chi’s men’s football’s first team were involved in a ten-goal thriller away at Kent as the match finished 5-5.

The Chi women’s badminton lost 5-3 at home to Brunel while third-placed Surrey beat the men’s team 6-2.

In netball, league leaders King’s College got the better of the Chi ones 74-35 and the fives lost to undefeated table toppers UCL sevens 55-10. It was third versus second in the encounter between the Chi threes and Portsmouth fours with Chichester edging a close one 45-42. And things were even tighter for the university’s fourth netball team who beat their Brighton counterparts 26-25.

The Chi men’s basketball lost 98-55 at Brunel but the women’s team pulled further away from rivals in South Eastern 3A and maintained their 100 per cent league record after a convincing 104-39 win at home to Reading.

The men’s hockey second team beat Portsmouth 3-0 while the ultimate frisbee team lost 6-5 against Brighton and Goldsmiths won in straight sets at home to Chichester’s women’s volleyball.

In esports, the CS:GO team lost 16-5 to Kent and 16-9 to Staffordshire in the third week of National University Esports League competition.

The League of Legends team beat Leeds but lost to Northampton and Hertfordshire.

There was week three action in Teamfight Tactics with four Chi Challengers placed third, fifth, seventh and eighth in their respective groups after Round 2.

Chi’s Magic: The Gathering Arena team lost to number two seeds Edinburgh but beat Cambridge to move on to round two of the losers’ bracket.
