They’re a new team in Littlehampton – and are out to have fun and win things. Player Kay O’keeffe said: “We’re a group of women ranging in age from 18 to late 40s – teachers, teaching assistants nursery staff, ambulance, police and rail staff, and college and university students.

“We all joined the back-to netball sessions at The Wave to increase our fitness levels and meet other people who are passionate about the game while receiving specialist coaching to improve our skills.

“A group of us have now created a new team - the Wave Warriors – and have entered the Inspired 2 Sport summer netball league at Durrrington High School. Mikey Schouller at The Beach (opposite The Wave) has kindly agreed to sponsor us.

This has enabled our new team a fantastic start with reversible bibs, a netball and first aid kit . The bibs were kindly printed by Glen Harris at Imunique UK (Etsy).

“We were so excited to put our new skills into action with our first game. We played really well and although we lost by two goals there wasn’t really much in it.

“We have a range of ages and abilities in our team, the aim is to be inclusive but most of all for everyone to have fun.

“We had invaluable coaching from Phillippa Chambers week in week out until we felt ready to take the plunge. It’s so nice to be back out playing team sports after such a long time, tit has helped people with building new friendships, confidence and mental health.”
