Own goal seals Sidley's fate

A SECOND half own goal by Lee Wood condemned Sidley to a 1-0 defeat at Whitehawk on Tuesday.

The cruel blow came on the hour mark when the unfortunate Wood turned a cross into his own net to cap a miserable night for The Blues.

Joint-manager Peter Heritage said: "It was a major disappointment, we just didn't perform well on the night."

The match was largely dominated by the home side with Sidley keeper John Gardner making a fine save in the 32nd minute to keep his team on level terms.

Kevin Rose had the best chance for the visitors when he rounded Whitehawk keeper Matt Ades, but from an acute angle he shot into the side netting.
