Park within sight of cricket title

Crowhurst Park moved ever closer to the East Sussex Cricket League title with another victory on Saturday.

Park go into the last two games of the Division One season with a 33-point cushion over second-placed Rottingdean so one win should be enough to make certain of top spot.

Theit latest success was by an emphatic nine-wicket margin away to mid-table Ringmer. Victor Walcott took 4-12 off eight overs as the hosts were shot out for 109 before Clive Tong hit an undefeated 56 as Park cruised home in reply.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Iden went down by 74 runs away to Rottingdean after being bowled out for 106. Gary Rens took three wickets and scored an undefeated 39.

Battle remain in the two relegation places after going down by three wickets at home to third-placed Heathfield Park despite a magnificent 119 from Jo Carthew in their total of 191. Peter Matthews took three wickets with the ball.

Rye, meanwhile, recovered from the shock of seeing the Sidley Allnutt Pavilion destroyed by fire with a five-wicket win away to Hailsham in Division Two. Sandun Dias took six wickets and scored an undefeated 32.

Robertsbridge are two points clear at the top of Division Three on the back of a three-wicket win away to Tunbridge Wells Borderers, while bottom-of-the-table Pett lost by eight wickets at Blackboys.
