Pat on the back for Grattons Ladies

Grattons Ladies team had an exciting afternoon playing Horsham in the Ladies County League.

They got off to a flying start, but after tea, the winning shots constantly changed hands, on every rink.

Grattons eventually won the game by an excellent 92-83.

Their top rink was skipped by Pat Capper, with Sandy Rogers, Jackie Cousins and Pat Hawkins.

Grattons mixed team welcomed Sutton based Shopland Select. Shopland raced to an early lead but Grattons fought back in the second half eventually winning by 167-85.

The top rink (pictured) was Ken Toop, skip June Morton, Paul Martin and Ken Keohane, they scored a hot shot which means all eight of their bowls were closer to the jack than any of their opponents.

Shopland raises money for charities, this year they are supporting the Centre for Independent Living and Learning.

Captain Kim Robinson said: “This friendly match against a such skilful team had given everybody a very pleasant afternoon.”

Grattons men’s team won their Sussex County league match against Adur.

Delighted captain Dennis Robinson said: “Adur are always a tough team to beat, so I am pleased with this excellent result.”

It also meant Grattons maintained their third place in Division One.

Grattons m ixed team narrowly lost 111-107 at home to derby rivals Popes Mead, many of whom are also members of Grattons.
