Paul Reid wonders if ninth is where the Albion really rank in next season's title stakes

BRIGHTON have been made joint-ninth favourites for promotion from League One next season, and I'm slightly surprised by that after last season.

With Micky Adams, who was so successful with the club before, coming back, it's probably worth a little punt.

Leeds are obviously the favourites but it was good to see my former team-mate, Mark McCammon, in the Doncaster team celebrating after they beat them in the Play-Off final.

I haven't spoken to Mark for a couple of months but I'll give him a call to congratulate him.

I'm still waiting to see where I'll be playing next season. Things are always slow around May time, but will pick up in the next few weeks.Pre-season training will begin in four weeks, and I'm not looking forward to the running.

I've given my body a rest for the last couple of weeks, but will start training again next week to get myself ready.

The European Championships start this week, and I fancy Croatia.

They proved they have a good squad when they beat England, and looked good value when I saw the betting odds. I also fancy Holland to do quite well.

I can see where Fifa president Sepp Blatter is coming from with his proposal to have six home-grown players in each starting XI.It could also bring the top four in the Premier League back closer to the rest of the teams.

But, at the moment, a lot of people say the Premier League is the best in the world, and I'd agree with that.

If the proposal went through, the quality of the league would drop, but then it would probably be best for the England national team, so it's a bit of a catch-22 situation.
