Pebsham hosts darts thriller

THE New Pebsham Club hosted a nail-biting county darts weekend in which Sussex managed to claw an 18-18 draw with Somerset by winning the final game of a contest their visitors led from the start.

Sidley player Ian Bingham, playing for the men's B side, won his match 3-2.

"A really good crowd came over from Somerset and the club was packed on both days," said club landlord Dick Morton. "It was a really good weekend."

The club will host Sussex v Wiltshire in the Inter-Counties Championship Division II in February next year, and a further round, Sussex v Worcestershire next April.

"It helps keep the club going," says Dick, who built up darts contacts over the years as landlord of Hastings Tivoli and the New Inn.

On Sunday December 12 the club hosts the Super League singles & doubles men's & women's championships followed by the league's annual presentation of cups and trophies.

New Pebsham Club won both the Eastern Division title and the play-off between winners of Eastern and Western divisions, and are due to compete in the County play-offs next year.

Play starts at 12 noon, with presentations taking place in the evening.
