Penalty agony for Worthing youth

AARON HOWE'S three penalty saves broke Worthing hearts at Woodside Road on Friday and sent the Surrey side into a final with either Carshalton or Staines, the North and East section winners.

West section champions Woking started brightly but keeper Steve Phillips was equal to anything thrown at him and showed confident handling throughout.

Rebels gradually settled and won a penalty in the 19th minute with their first sustained attack. Ryan Smith's shot was blocked and in the ensuing melee Jamie Brotherton was shoved to the floor.

Referee Steve Earle adjudged a foul but he and his assistant must have missed Woking Midfielder Billy Hussey strike the forward as he got to his feet. This could have been the only reason he wasn't dismissed although strangely he did appear to get a warning.
