Podium place for Bexhill driver

ADAM Weller has recorded his best result of the season in a national motor racing championship.

The Bexhill-based driver finished second in race two of the Formula Jedi 1,000 Class Championship at Cadwell Park last weekend, having been outside the top five places all season.

"I had a good race," said Weller, who endured a difficult opening three rounds of the season in a higher grade of competition than he has previously competed in. "We've had a few problems all year, which is why this weekend has been quite nice.

"It's definitely encouraging for the rest of the season. I hope to move one step further up and get a win some time because I think we've got the potential to do that."

The runners-up berth was secured after Weller, armed with a new engine, charged up from a qualifying position of sixth, having been forced to retire from race one of the weekend after developing a loss of power.

The fifth of 10 rounds in the series takes place at British Formula One grand prix venue, Silverstone, on July 16-17.
