Pollock looking forward to returning to action

WORTHING Thunder Basketball Club’s Noel Pollock believes that his side can get rid of some demons on Saturday when they travel to Leeds Carnegie for an EBL Division 1 fixture.

The south coast side have lost their previous two fixtures this season against the newly crowned National Cup champions from Yorkshire, and Pollock says that Worthing are a much stronger side and as a unit more together than the last time they played.

“I think that the whole team is looking forward to the game this weekend against Leeds,” he said.

“We just came off a big win on Sunday that we really needed, but now we have to move on and prepare for a tough away game at Leeds against a team filled with good role players that understand how to play with each other. We only lost by five when we played them at home, but I feel that we are a much stronger team now and, hopefully, we can walk away with the win.”

Brighton-based Pollock has been out of the rotation over the last few weeks with a lower back problem, which has affected his movement and shooting. He admits that while he is now at 100 percent, sitting on the bench in street clothes, not being able to help his team really hurt him.

The guard is keeping his fingers crossed that he will be fully fit for the duration of the EBL Division 1 season.

“My body feels great at the moment,” Pollock says. “I just have to get back into ‘match fitness’ and get my confidence back, which will only happen by playing more games.

“Hopefully, I won’t miss any more games this season and can help my team achieve the goals we have set ourselves.”

Thunder’s match at Leeds tips off at 6pm.
