Pony Club event great success

Goodwood Pony Club recently held its Open Hunter Trials in the glorious setting of Goodwood. The course was quite testing for horse and rider taking in a long uphill climb over the first two fences. However, this was an excellent, well designed course with a good variety of fences, including water.

Novice and Intermediate classes were held with the latter being BHS Cross Country Championship 2006 qualifiers.

There was strong competition between the Pony Clubs with Hannah Glasgow on Grace from Hayling Island PC taking the first class (Novice 2'6") from Annie Forsyth on Harris Tweed (Cowdray PC). Goodwood Pony Club achieved third and fourth placings respectively, with Sophia Wilson on Jack and Amba Hayward on Merrie Minestone.

The Intermediate 2'9" Open was won in fine style by Fiona Rogers on Madison from Sarah Green on Private Lady. Two pairs classes took place, the Novice being won by Richard Braham on Nibble with Peter Richards on Lucy, and the Intermediate by Michele Robinson on Will with Tiffy Robinson on Houston.

The event was very well attended in lovely weather and thanks to all those people who gave their help in jump judging, result running and collating score sheets.
