At the start of last year, a World Rules workshop was held at the Lamb Inn, Yapton, and the league will repeat that this year at another member's establishment for any new players joining the league to help them if they are unfamiliar with the rules.

Richard Milburn, assistant secretary to the league, said: "Last year saw 151 players competing for 19 teams based in 12 pubs or clubs in the Littlehampton and district areas. As well as two divisions, the players competed in 13 different competitions.

"Given that we were and still are in recession, it shows the level of comradeship that the members of the league hold and I am sure this year will be no different and I hope that we can attract more players and teams within the area for this season.

"Our members not only play in the LDWRPL, but they also get introduced and encouraged to take part in Inter-League, a competition within the affiliated leagues throughout Sussex, and also try out for the Sussex county pool teams, who compete nationally.
