Priory keep up their winning run with Bexhill on form too

Hastings Priory chalked up their third win in a row to keep in touch with the early leaders in the Sussex Cricket League.

Priory romped to a maximum points eight-wicket win away to second-from-bottom Lewes Priory in a one-sided Premier Division encounter on Saturday.

The home side were dismissed for 159 with the pick of the Priory bowlers being Danny Burnett who claimed 5-62. The only Lewes batsman to offer any real resistance was Nick Walters (52).

Natal all-rounder Keegan Africa hit an undefeated 78 to guide the visitors to an eight wicket win, with support coming from Bradley Smith who added 46 in a second wicket stand of 116.

This result saw Priory jump one place in the table to fifth - 33 points adrift of pace-setters Eastbourne who also won at the weekend.

Bexhill returned to winning ways in the Sussex Cricket League on Saturday with a three-wicket success away to Worthing.

The home side were bowled out for 192 with all the wickets being shared between skipper Chris Topp (6-42) and Ian Ellis (4-64), while top scorer was John Kay with 94.

In reply, Steve Phillimore (47), Topp (36 not out) and Simon Bulteel (28 not out) ensured a second win of the season in Division Two.

Sidley went down by 63 runs at home to Haywards Heath. The visitors amassed 247-8 declared thanks to Alex Ellis (91), Sam Irvine (56) and Hayden James (43), while Peter King (3-49) and Tyrone Wildman (3-84) enjoyed most success with the ball.

Manjot Singh (50) top-scored for Sidley and Wildman added 41 out of a total of 184 as James and Ben Collins each took 4-51.
